Today the 20th Of May 2022, PDP House of Assembly Aspirants in Sapele Local Government vying to fly the party flag in next year house of Assembly general election, signed a peace accords ahead of Sunday house of Assembly primaries.
The PDP House of Assembly aspirants signed the agreement at the Divisional Police Officer’s (CSP Harrison Nwabuisi) Office at the Sapele Police Station in Sapele, Delta State.
Those that sign the peace accords are Hon Felix Anirah, Chief Perkins Umukoro, former chairman of the party at the local government level, Chief Richard Randy Okotie, businessman, Hon Festus Pemu and PDP chieftain, and Comrade Ighoyota Lucky.
He also called on them to adopt a process that would promote a peaceful conduct that would see them promoting the politics of oneness, insisting what has brought them together as member of the party was bigger than their ambition.
Csp Nwabuisi said, so far, he was impressed with the way they have carried themselves, appealing that the aspirants should speak to their supporters to avoid anything that will cause violence.
According to him, “the importance of this is to ensure that there will be peace on Sunday 22nd Of May, and at the end let the peace and brotherliness you have for each other continue”
Responding, Chief Perkins Umukoro called on the security men to be vigilant adding that rooms should not be given to hoodlums to destabilize the process, he called for more security from the accreditation center at the Athletic club to the voting venue at Sapele stadium.
The Secretary of the party in Sapele Local Government Council, Comrade Ekeleme Harrison while commending the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) for the meeting reiterate the need to reach out to the delegates on the process of accreditation, saying they (the delegates) need a proper form of identification to be accredited on Sunday to vote at the primaries.
Others who also spoke at the peace meeting include Comrade Ighoyota Lucky, who also called for proper security so as not to make the process rowdy.
Those who witnessed the signing include, the OC SSS, Benjamin Paul and a host of others.
