On Friday, The Court Of Appeal In Lagos Division dismissed the petitions filed by Senator Ovie Omo Agege, candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), and two others challenging the governorship victory of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the March 18th, 2023 governorship election.
The Honourable Commissioner For Environment, Delta State Hon Ejiro Tommy Jamani, in a congratulatory message on Friday 24th of November 2023, said: "The judgment delivered by the court of appeal affirms that the rule of law is meant to protect the will of the people in a free and fair electioneering process".
"The Appeal Court decision stood for the vital proposition that the rule of law serves to protect the sovereign will of the people when expressed in free and honest elections".
“Congratulations to My Governor, My Leader, My Father, And The Leader of our great Party 'The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Court of Appeal judgment affirming your overwhelming victory in the governorship election in the state.
“By this judgment, the appellate court clearly shows that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme were the candidates whom Deltans have chosen to pilot the affairs of the State for the next four years.
"The confidence the people repose in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's administration has been well earned and should be wholly respected.
“It is time to now place partisan politics on the shelf for the moment so that these former political contestants can join hands as much as possible for the good and development of Delta State.
“Once again, I rejoice with My Governor, My Father, My Leader, Sheriff Oborevwori, and Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme, our teeming PDP members in Delta, and, indeed, the good people of the state over this court victory.”
